I’m Michael Joseph Friedberg — a New Zealand business executive, advisor, and photographer.

I didn’t set out to become a photographer. It happened gradually, alongside the rest of life.

What began as something I did around a busy professional career slowly became something much more important. The camera travelled with me through work, family time, unfamiliar places, long drives, changing weather, early mornings, and those quieter moments in between. Over time, photography became a way to slow down, pay attention, and see things differently.

My work in business has taken me across the world and often at pace. Photography became the balance to that. A quieter discipline. A way to notice light, movement, atmosphere, and place in a way that felt grounding and real.

Over the years, that became a body of work I wanted to share.

Michael Joseph Friedberg | Selected Works brings together images shaped by that journey. Some are rooted in landscape. Some in movement. Some in reflection, silhouette, or abstraction. All of them come from the same instinct — noticing something honest in a moment and wanting to hold onto it.

This work is not really about perfection. It’s about connection. Mood. Memory. The feeling a place, a shift in light, or a fleeting scene can leave behind.

Travel has shaped it. New Zealand has shaped it. Family has shaped it too. So has the simple act of learning to look more closely.

If you know me through my business life, this is simply another expression of the same perspective. Different medium, same instinct: to observe closely, find meaning, and share something that resonates.
