Passing, Hanoi

Location: Hanoi, Vietnam

Orientation: Landscape

Taken on a wet Saturday morning in Hanoi, just before I flew home. The city was damp, busy, and fully awake.

Two women move through the frame in opposite directions. One carries the visual language of tradition, the other something more contemporary. For a brief moment they align — back to back — before continuing on, never quite meeting.

What draws me to this image is the sense of continuity. Old and new worlds passing, converging, and separating again. Not in conflict, just coexisting. It’s a quiet reminder that in much of Asia, time doesn’t replace itself — it layers.

This photograph isn’t about a single subject. It’s about movement, rhythm, and the feeling of a city that has been evolving for centuries and will keep doing so long after this moment has passed.
