Across the Road

This was taken across the road from a client I was working with in Auckland.

An old apartment block. Solid. Quiet. The kind of building you walk past without noticing — until the light shifts.

Early in the morning, the stairwell began to glow. Marble, steel railings, soft globe lights — each level catching a slightly different tone. Cool blues in the shadows. Warm gold where the light settled. Geometry repeating, but never quite the same.

What I love about this image is that it creates its own world. Layers within layers. Lines crossing. Structure softened by colour.

It’s architectural, but not cold. There’s warmth in it. A sense of lived-in history.

This piece works beautifully in modern interiors, offices, hallways or studies — spaces where clean lines and subtle colour can elevate a room without overwhelming it. It brings structure and calm at the same time.
