City in Motion

This was taken on an evening photography adventure with my son, working on his end-of-year portfolio.

We set up near the on-ramp to the Auckland Harbour Bridge with a tripod, playing with slow shutter speeds and panning techniques. It was one of those nights where the point wasn’t perfection — it was experimentation. Trying things. Getting it wrong. Trying again.

What I love here is the sense of controlled chaos.

The car holds just enough shape to anchor the frame, while everything else stretches and pulls with speed. Light becomes line. The city becomes rhythm. The on-ramp becomes a river of movement.

It captures that Auckland energy — fast, layered, slightly restless — but also the joy of having time to explore it properly.

This piece works beautifully in contemporary spaces — offices, media rooms, hallways, or modern living areas — where movement and momentum add life to the room. It brings energy without noise.
