City, Unbound

This photograph was taken at night from Bayswater Marina, looking back toward Auckland as the city began to hum rather than sleep.

Using a tripod and intentional camera movement, I zoomed out during the exposure to fracture the skyline into streaks of light and colour. Buildings dissolve into motion. Streetlights become vectors. What’s familiar becomes felt rather than seen.

This isn’t a city portrait in the traditional sense. It’s an interpretation of energy — the pace, the density, the quiet chaos that defines Auckland after dark.

Where many of my works explore stillness and restraint, this piece leans into momentum. It holds tension. It brings contrast to the collection and invites the viewer to experience the city as movement rather than place.

It suits modern interiors, creative studios, and spaces that thrive on energy — rooms where ideas are formed, not slowed.
