End of the Lake, Glenorchy

This photograph was taken in Glenorchy, a small settlement at the far end of Lake Wakatipu, where the road runs out and the mountains close in.

Glenorchy feels like an old New Zealand town — simple, unpolished, and largely unchanged. People come here for the scenery, stay for the beer, and linger because life feels a little slower at the edge of the lake.

The shed sits quietly against the backdrop of snow-dusted peaks, weathered timber holding its own against a landscape that hasn’t needed much improvement. Shooting this in black and white felt right — stripping the scene back to texture, shape, and contrast, and letting the place speak for itself.
