Evening Tide

This image leads the site because it captures how I photograph — slowly, observantly, and with space for the viewer to discover their own moments within it.

Taken at the end of a warm summer’s day from the Brighton Pier in Christchurch, it isn’t about a single subject. It’s about rhythm. People drifting in and out of the frame. Light settling. Reflections forming and dissolving. The scene changes the longer you stay with it.

That’s intentional.

Most of my work is about attention rather than spectacle. Images that don’t demand anything from you, but quietly reward time. This photograph sets the tone for my Selected Works because it invites the same behaviour I bring to creating my pictures: pause, notice, return.

It works best in spaces designed for living rather than passing through — a living room, a reading nook, a hallway you walk past every day. Places where light changes across the wall and the image can keep revealing itself over time.
