First Light, Lake Brunner

Taken early on the edge of Lake Brunner in Iveagh Bay, before the day has fully formed.

The mountains sit in heavy shadow, the forest dark and dense. Then, almost quietly, a narrow band of light slips across the valley floor — touching only certain trees, leaving others untouched.

That contrast is what held me.

Parts of the landscape remain cold and still, not yet reached by the sun. Others begin to glow. It’s subtle, but powerful — a reminder that light never arrives all at once. It moves gradually, deliberately.
