First Light, Singapore

Singapore was a city I returned to often.

I’d usually take the overnight flight and land around 6am. A strong coffee first, then straight out into the warmth — that familiar mix of humidity, calm, and quiet efficiency before the city fully switches on.

This photograph was taken across the hrabour from the botanical gardens, early in the morning, when the light is soft and the air still holds the night. The structures feel almost organic at this hour — less architectural statement, more part of the landscape.

What I love about this image is its restraint.

The city is present, but not loud.
The water holds the colour.
The forms curve and repeat, steady and considered.

It’s a picture about arrival — not just into a city, but into a day.
That moment when you’ve travelled far, your body is tired, and yet everything feels possible again.
