Held by Morning

Taken on an early morning walk close to home, this photograph captures a quiet moment as the rising sun caught a single grass stem, lifting it gently out of the surrounding dark. The light arrived softly, just enough to illuminate the delicate seed head while everything else remained muted and still.

What drew me in was the contrast — the fragility of the plant against the depth of shadow behind it. There’s a sense of pause here, of something briefly revealed before the day fully begins. The simplicity of the composition allows the light to do most of the work, turning an ordinary roadside moment into something quietly considered.
