Held in Stillness, Seoul

This photograph was taken at a large Buddhist temple in Seoul.

I noticed the monk seated alone in prayer — still, contained, undisturbed by the space around him. It was a deeply quiet moment, and I didn’t want to interrupt it.

So I didn’t.

I stayed back.
Observed.
Waited.

What drew me in wasn’t ceremony or spectacle, but the simplicity of the posture — the way the body settles when there’s nothing left to perform.

There’s a sense of solitude here, but not isolation.
Of presence, without urgency.

This image reveals itself slowly.
First as form and symmetry.
Then as reflection.
Then as calm.

It belongs in living spaces where quiet matters — rooms meant for pause, reflection, or simply being still for a moment longer than usual.
