Photographed in Coorong National Park, South Australia, this image captures pelicans in flight against an almost empty sky. Stripped of landscape and colour, the focus is entirely on form — wings stretched, bodies suspended, and the subtle variation in each moment of flight as the birds move together.

What drew me to this scene was the spacing and sequence. The birds aren’t perfectly aligned, yet there’s an unmistakable order to how they move through the frame. The simplicity allows the eye to slow down and notice the differences in wing position and posture, turning a fleeting moment into something calm and considered.
