Let Them Pass

This photograph was taken from the Mt Hutt access road after a long day skiing with the boys.

Cars rushed past, engines echoing up the valley, everyone eager to get home. I pulled over instead. Sometimes you just need to stop — let the noise move on — and take in what’s right in front of you.

The Southern Alps stretched out in layers, light catching the ridgelines, clouds breaking just enough to reveal their scale. There was nothing dramatic happening — just mountains being mountains — and that was exactly the point.
