Mist Rising (Monochrome)

This monochrome image was taken on the West Coast near Lake Brunner as rain moved in and the mountains began to dissolve into mist.

Stripping the colour back shifts the focus entirely to structure and light. The layers of land recede slowly, softened by cloud and weather, while contrast replaces colour as the dominant force. What remains is rhythm — the rise and fall of the ranges, the slow movement of rain, the quiet weight of the landscape.

In black and white, the scene becomes more contemplative. Less about place, more about presence. It’s a moment that feels suspended — neither clearing nor closing in.

This version works particularly well in calm, pared-back spaces — studies, hallways, or bedrooms — where texture and tone matter more than colour, and where stillness is part of the atmosphere.
