Seven Sisters

Location: Moscow, Russia

Orientation: Portrait

Taken on a bitterly cold night in Moscow, this image captures one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters — monumental towers built to project power, permanence, and modernity in the aftermath of war.

Today, this building lives a second life as a hotel. The symbolism has softened, but the architecture hasn’t.

I was drawn to the contrast.

The weight of the stone.
The precision of the lines.
The glow of modern light against something designed to dominate its skyline.

Cars streak past at street level, barely noticed. The building doesn’t rush. It never needed to.

This photograph sits at the intersection of history and reinvention — where ideology fades, but presence remains.

It works especially well in offices, studios, and leadership spaces where architecture, power, and perspective matter. A piece that invites pause, not noise. Reflection, not nostalgia.
