Where the Sea Leans In

Where the Sea Leans In

Location: Northland, New Zealand

Orientation: Landscape

This photograph was taken on Pakiri Beach at sunrise, using intentional camera movement.

Compared to some of the softer ICM work, this moment carried more weight. The waves were active. The angles sharper. The shoreline refusing to sit still.

I moved with the water rather than against it — letting the horizon blur, the surf stretch, and the colours pull across the frame. What emerged wasn’t a place you stand and observe, but one you feel in your body.

This image is about energy that doesn’t settle neatly.
About motion that carries mood.

It holds warmth in the light, but tension in the movement — the kind of balance that keeps drawing you back in.

It works well in spaces that welcome boldness and rhythm — rooms where people gather, talk, and move. Places that don’t need everything to be calm to feel grounded.
