Winter Creek

Winter Creek was taken in deep winter at the same time as Hoar Frost, when the landscape feels paused and the cold settles into everything that remains in shadow. The creek cuts quietly through the frame, its surface dark and still in places, while pockets of light break through and briefly warm the water and surrounding banks.

What makes this image special to me is the contrast. Some parts of the scene remain untouched — frozen, muted, almost withdrawn — while others catch just enough light to soften the cold. The photograph becomes less about the creek itself and more about how light chooses where to land.

This piece works beautifully in calm, considered spaces such as studies, bedrooms, or living areas where subtlety matters. It brings quiet depth to a room, revealing more the longer you sit with it.
